The song “One Day at a Time” by Lynda Randle Is one of my favorite country gospel songs. Written by Marijohn Wilkin and Kris Kristofferson It’s a beautiful song with a powerful message and is such a comforting reminder to focus on living in the present moment and trusting in God’s guidance. The lyrics emphasize the importance of taking life one step at a time and finding strength and grace in the everyday moments.
When I ran my commercial recording studio in Brooklyn in the mid 2000’s I worked with a lot of Caribbean gospel artists. Before then I never knew how aligned the genre of Caribbean gospel was with country gospel. In addition to an artists original songs I found that there were certain songs that many different artists covered. “One Day At A Time” was perhaps the most covered song from that time in my experience. I don’t know how many different arrangements of that song I built but the Lynda Randle version was the most popular.
I also came to realize that she was involved with the Gaither Homecoming concerts which deserves its own blog post. I have done a huge amount of cover versions of songs by The Gaithers or by artists associated with them. And they have been putting out new music as recently as 2023

Randle’s powerful voice and heartfelt renditions of gospel classics caught the attention of the Gaithers, leading to her becoming a regular guest on their shows. Her performances fit well with the Homecoming series’ style, which often highlights inspirational and uplifting gospel music. Her appearances helped to introduce her music to a broader audience and solidified her place in the gospel music community.
